Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  How much does it cost to enter a class or show?

A: HorseShow.com Judged Shows entry fees will be determined by the length of video that is being judged, how extensive the judges' comments will be and the amount of prize money and awards that can be won.  The average entry fee for a class judged by a nationally recognized USEF judge will be about $15.

Q. How do I find out what the requirements are for entering a class?

A: Once you select your show, you will see a list of classes on the left side of the screen. Select the class you want to enter and you will see a button that says “class instructions” below the class description. This PDF document will guide you through all of the class instructions and requirements.

Q. How do I enter my video into a class?

A: There are 3 steps to entering a video into a class:

  1. Sign-up as a member and create a profile page
  2. Create a profile for each horse that will be entered into a class
  3. On the video page, select upload a new video; Select your newly created horse, Name your video and upload it from your computer or embed it from YouTube.

Q. What should I wear in my video?

A: Some members choose to wear the same attire that they would at a live horse show, but it is not required at HorseShow.com.

Since the videos will be viewed by a large audience, members will want to wear attire that is neat, professional and well-suited to showcasing the type of performance being asked for in the class.

Q. Are there restriction on the type of tack I can wear?

A: If there are any restrictions on the type of tack or equipment that can be used it will be specified at the top of the class description on the class page.

Q. Can my horse wear protective boots or polo wraps?

A: Yes.  Members can choose to attire their horse in whatever way they feel is most appropriate, keeping in mind that they will want to present their horse in a way that the judge can clearly see the performance and compare it to the other entries.

Q. Can my video have edits?

A: Some classes will allow a video to be a compilation of several pieces, but all classes require that video footage is from the same performance.  Otherwise the judge would need to disqualify the entry.  Each class page has a description of the class requirements and specifies whether edits are allowed.

Q. I tried to upload a video and nothing happened - what do I do?

A: Some video files are quite large and, depending on the file format, can take almost 20 minutes to upload!  If a member leaves the upload page before a video completely uploads, the process will stop.  Members should not leave the upload page until a pop-up box appears telling them the upload was successful.

Q. I uploaded my video, but why can't I find it on my horse profile page?

A: All videos are uploaded onto a host server and then encoded so they can be played on the HorseShow.com viewers.  This process can take up to 20 minutes, depending on how much activity is on the server.  The video will not show up on the horse profile page until this process is complete. You should receive an email once the video has been encoded and moved to your video page. (Note: some email may get stuck in your spam folder)
